Forum CPU & Components : Power Supplies, Cases & Mods Corsair GS600 install into Gateway FX

Just bought and installed a GS600 PSU into a Gateway FX4710-UB003A. Then installed GE Force gtx 560 ti (new) and tried to power up....nothing. No case lights, not even blue light on PSU. Reinstalled stock 400W PSU and GE Force 9800 and system working fine. I could be missing something but I'm thinking this is a DOA Corsair PSU? If I had incorrectly connected ANY of the power cables (mobo or peripheral) from the Corsair would this PSU be smart enough to prevent power up? If so I my try again....help....

Used the paperclip test. PSU is working. Must have connected something incorrectly in the case. Thank you ko888

That PSU has Over Current, Over Voltage, Over Power Protection, Under Voltage Protection and Short Circuit Protection.

One of those might have been triggered preventing the PSU from powering up.

Got the PSU working with the box now no video signal to my samsung monitor from the GEForce gtx 560 ti. Card powers up, fan running but nothing on the monitor. Monitor connects by DVI. Tried both ports on the vid. card and a couple reboots.

Does your GeForce 9800 GT work with that new power supply in there?

If it does, I would suspect a defective GeForce GTX 560 Ti.

Try the GeForce GTX 560 Ti in another system to confirm if it really is defective or not.

Yep. The 9800 works fine on the new PSU (runs hotter than he!!). Unfortunately I don't have another system to put the 560 into. It is off-the-shelf retail so I'll be returning it. Couldn't be MOBO/PCI-E compatibility issue could it?

No. Never heard of any with that card.
