My priorities are as follows:

solid construction; I will not tolerate a +2000$ machine to be the
least bendable or flimsy.
silent operation (or as close as possible)
good screen; at least 1400x1050 preferably with good color rendition.
reasonable 3d performance; say radeon x300.
no more than 3kg; I need to be able to carry the thing.

Primary uses will be 3d modelling, photoshop, and dtp.

Extras that would be nice:

Good quality audio out, I don't care for laptop speakers, but the
ability to drive headphones I'd like.
wi-fi with good reach
bluetooth
firewire
