P67 Board question

Hey just wonder weather or not P67 Motherboards will be compatible with Ivy Bridge Processors when they come out? Also is the MSI p67A-g43 Crossfire Board I5-25000k a good combo?

not all will be and that's up to the motherboard manufacturer, odds are your in luck but TBH
you should be looking for a Z68 motherboard Gen3 just to make sure.

Basically it depends on whether the manufacture provides a BIOS/Firmware update to support it. Other than that, the P67 chipset will support it no problem. I'm guessing no difference between P67 and Z68 support from manufactures, but I could be wrong.

It is good budget board, but Z68 is safer way : )
I'd go with this one. Price is almost the same and it is Z68 chipset.

I would go with Z68 because the features.
There are 3 major differences between the P67 and the Z68.

Intel SRT (Smart Response Technology) lets you to use a small SSD (<50GB) to work as a caching drive to speed up the boot, start up of apps and access times.

IGP Support (Integrated Graphics on Processor) the Z68 boards have build in support for the IGP. The main advantages of this is that it will allow you to use the IGP for things like backup graphics and help with trouble shooting issues. Also with the Lucid Logix Virtu software you switch between the IGP and the dedicated video card for the best performance for the application that you are running.

Intel SATA III controller is better performing then the old Marvell controller that is used on the P67 boards.

Z68 is also great overclocker!

Z68 is going to be Ivybridge compatible. H67 and P67. H61 is not.

Those are the differences between the Z68 and the P67.

depends on the actual manufacturer of motherboard to release BIOS allowing so.

I would get that Extreme3 Gen3 board but unfortunately it is still 150$ in Canada. But I might be able to ship it to a friends address in the states. 30$ difference is enough to do it I think. Thanks for input guys, good to know.

Shouldn't take too long at all. As long as it takes newegg to ship it and a few days to get it from him. Also I have another big question, I read somewhere a while back that the ASRock Extreme3 Gen3 is not the usual size of a ATX motherboard. Will it fit in a Corsair 400r Carbide Series Case??? I already have the case and just want to make sure it will fit!

ASRock is actually or was anyways part of ASUS.
to me ASUS is top notch in motherboards.
I have an ASRock H61 in-house now and have had several ASUS board.

Ah yes thanks for reminding me lol

I remember reading an article last year in Maximum PC mag that had that cpu cooler against a Corsair one. I forgot which one was better but is that the best cooler?
