I set the AP in (WDS mode).

the ap is AP2000 by lucent

And when I send the data form LAN1 to LAN2.
the max througput is 600KB/s
why ???

Can someone help or give me an idea?

I have used the wireless sniffer to make sure no one use the channel. and the channel is clear.

More Information

I believe the lucent AP2000 is an 802.11b device so the MAX theretical throughput is only about 1.3Megabytes/s (11 devided by 8). The usual throughputs for 802.11b are around 800kilobytes/s. How far apart are the APs? If they are around or over 50ft apart I think that speed is probably correct.

More Information

You won't see 800 KB, even on the Cisco gear, for .11b equipment. Right at it but not quite 800. Lucent is pretty close to Cisco and the AP2000's are excellent. 600 KB is about right. Perhaps a bit light but not that far off. How far away are the AP and bridge and do you have any obstructions in the path. If you have one or more obstructions then 600KB is quite good. If not then your not that far off.

I get a steady 800kb/s through my linksys wap54g goin to a linksys 802.11b pcmcia card in my mom's laptop. Oh well... Maybe I'm just special :)

I did the test from the laptop to my mom's desktop machine.

More Information

If it says your getting 800KB on your .11b WLAN then yes, it's bogus. Qcheck is probably more accurate if your going to use a utility. I'd recommend setting up an FTP or webserver environment if you want to test your LAN bandwidth. Something that will let you see the data rate in real time.

More Information

All the files on my web/ftp server have been very small so I couldn't get a very accurate reading. I put a big movie on my webserv and after about 5min or so it went down to about 640 or so and hung around there. I guess I've just been dealing with to small of files so I never let the download slump down to the actual speed :) IE downloads always have that initial burst and that is probably all I've been seeing.

More Information

640KB is just about right. Yes, that was going to be my next theory. Bursting and/or small files.
