I recently purchased an SSD. I installed the SSD, and windows even prompted me by telling me that it was configuring my new device. After this, the SSD would not show up under my computer. How do i format the drive? Please note i am not looking to install windows on here, just make it useable.

Register or log in to remove.

Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools then Computer Management then Disk Management. You will likely be asked to initialise the drive. If not find the drive listed and then initialise it. You should see the drive listed with uninitialised being shown. Right click over where it sees that and you will see the option to initialise it. You can then format it in Disk Manager. It will then show up in my computer.
