Hello .

I built my first computer today but haven't installed the hard drive yet due to reasons that I will explain below .

Do I need an enclosure to install into computer or can I just put the "raw" component in without it getting damaged or anything .

In my case there is these Switches that you turn and pull out , you then put the hard drive in you then replace the switches and lock .

However it does not state that you need an enclosure so I'm just making sure before I install it .

Here is my case : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Mas [...] 281&sr=8-4

and my hard drive :http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Caviar-SATAIII-Internal/dp/B00461G3MS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328813588&sr=8-1

Thanks for help !

No enclosure, just put it into one of the 3.5 inch bays and secure it in place with the hard drive locking mechanism of the case. With the computer off attach the power connector and a SATA data cable, which if this is your boot drive should attach to your SATA_0 port on the motherboard.
