neither my drive nor my hdd came w/ wires
what types of wires will i need for my drive and my hdd?

the cordes should be included in with your motherboard.

normally 2-4 SATA cables are included

however your CDROM is a PATA one. any reason you got a PATA rather than a SATA??

can i use the drive from my other pc acer aspire x1700 meanwhile i wait for my order?

and im having trouble choosing a Pata(cd rom) to Sata(HDD) thing

yes u can use the CD Drive from any PC

dont bother wiht a converter, they are more trouble than they are worth. exchange the PATA ROM for a SATA ROM.

or take one out of another PC. as the tech hasnt changed in quite a while.
I dont burn disks at all so for me as long as it reads DVD Dual Layer disks its all I need
