Hey guys,

I have and issue with my RAID 5 drives. I had 5 hard drives that were in a RAID 5 array using windows XP as the controller. Everything was working fine and then Windows XP crashed. I reinstalled Windows XP and now I cant get my RAID 5 to work, all the disk drives are there, but they say failed. When I click on reactivate disk, nothing happens. I am at a loss as to what to do next so any help would be huge.

Kevin

Sounds like you used the Windows XP "hack" (to enable Server 2003 software RAID in XP) to put them in software RAID?

If that's the case, then your array's dead and won't be coming back. The RAID5 config was stored by Windows, so when you reinstalled XP, you wiped out the data needed to make the array operational (or for that matter, restore it from a degraded or failed state).

Sorry, champ. Short of paying a data-recovery expert 100+ dollars an hour to manually pull the data off of each drive, your data's gone.

Thanks for the reply, I was able to use, EASEUS Data Recovery to pull off all the data.
