Arctic cooler pro 7 upgrade worth it?

I currently have the freezer 7 pro and its doing it job but not at temps that im liking too much.

CPU: 2500k 4.2ghz
Idle: 32-35
Prime95: 65-70c+

I was looking at the hyper 212's and they look like a good cooler. Is it worth an upgrade like this or should i save my money and look at purchasing a noctua d14?

Also....is there a large difference in temps both idle and load between hyper 212 and noctua?

Apples and oranges!
The 212+ is alot better then your current cooler.
The D-14 is alot better then the 212+ and also costs 3x more.
The 212+ is a very good solution and will drop temps further at a minimal cost.

Get the best cpu cooler that you can afford if you are overclocking. If you pay the extra bucks for the ability to overclock your processor, you may as well give yourself the tools to do it right.

Even if you don't want to push your chip to the limit, a better cooler with allow your operating temps to stay low which can only help your chip.

If you don't have the budget, there is nothing wrong with an air cooler. But, if you want the best cooling options, factory sealed water cooling units or custom water cooling loops is where you want to look.

I have an H100 Corsair and I have no problem at all recommending it or one of the other H series coolers to someone looking for the best cooling options.

Here are only a few of the benefits:

1) best cooling solution short of custom water cooling.
2) easy to install (pre applied paste is excellent)
3) smaller footprint which gives more room for air to circulate in the case
4) optimized fan speeds (I run mine on low: it is quiet and it keeps my 4.5 OC in the low 60s'C at 100% load)
5) much less stress on the mobo (some of the better air coolers are HUGE and HEAVY!)

Consider any of these depending on your case size:

i actually had an h50 and h60 before and the performance isn't that great for the price. An h100 gets beat for the noctua d14 by a margin. If i plan to go water cooling then ide rather build a custom loop.

No air cooler beats the H100 in a push/pull arrangement with 4 fans.

If you have the budget, the H100 is the best cooling solution short of a custom loop.

If you don't have the budget, or are just not going to push your CPU to the limit, there are plenty of other options, like the air coolers.

idk if you have seen product reviews and comparisons but the h100 actually loses against the noctua d14. Not by much like only 1c or 2. But the noise difference is huge!!! you need 4 fans blowing loud

I have never seen a review with the H100 using 4 fans, only 2.

If you have seen such a review in which the H100 in a 4 fan push/pull configuration is beat by ANY air cooler, please do post it so we all can see!

Edit:

But at any rate, the buyer has freedom to choose. And it is sometimes that we have to fit into a budget and sacrifice performance. If you are in that situation, go with whatever fits into your budget.
