Forum Overclocking : CPUs Given my 2500k stock temperature CAN i OC?

at stock clock 3.3 with a a50 cooler, i idle around 30-33 and goes up to low 40's while playing LOL or Skyrim. Im looking to oc it about 4.0-4.2, but im not sure how much the temperature will rise. What do you guys suggest b/c im estimating it will go up about 6-7 degree and idling at 40 degree will suck really bad.

I have an A70 and the A50 isn't too far behind, you should be fine at up to 4.5ghz just make sure you watch temps and voltage. :)
Also i've never idled at 40 or higher, if you do then you probably put too much voltage in to it.

4.0-4.2 easily :)

Probably 4.4-4.5 depending on your chip with air cooler.

its the p8z68-v LX, i know i can do it i just want to make sure the high temp wont cause stability issues, and long term damage.

You're good to probably 4.4Ghz

It's the board. Not the chip.

I have common sense thank you lol
It's not just this board either, there are some p67 boards with this problem.
There are work arounds of course too...
