Folder icons sized as the folder size

Forum Windows XP : Configuration & Customization Folder icons sized as the folder size

Hello,
I was wondering why modern Windows interface do not show folder icons as big as the folder itself is big, rather than all-the-same icons for so different folders!
Does it exist any shell extension capable of doing this?

Nope, but you could write one.

I find it a lot more convenient to work with WinDirStat when I want to see folder sizes, and not have to navigate between a three-inch square folder icon and one that's two millimeters on a side.

Interesting idea but I think color coding is much better. Plus it assumes that people care more about the size of the folders rather than the contents. Folder sizes are really only useful if you are trying to find something that is using up a lot of wasted space.

If you are using it to find out what files are using up space, use WinDirStat, it not only tells you where the large files are but also lets you know what the file types are. I would not want my folder list to be different sizes at all, will make navigation and readability a giant mess. Last thing I need to to get out a ruler and check if this folder is .3 mm wider than another one.

There is always "sort by size" option.
