My crazy nephew just had a monitor go out and ordered a 24" Acer monitor. The thing is, he is still using an old, yet classic, set-up based on an ABIT NF7-S motherboard, a Barton 2500 at 2.3 GHz, and a BBA 9800 Pro.

Can that 9800 even run that monitor? What rtesolution should he use on it.

He is mostly going to be using Photoshop and other higher end software, but I can see some need for gaming as well.

I plan to build him something using a Q6600 or E8400 and a nice PCI-E card, but not likely until January or later.

yeah it'll support the resolution but photoshop might be a little slow and of course gaming will be hindered.

Should be ok, but you can count all but the oldest games out at that resolution.
