OC'ed Q9300 vs. Q6600 for Gaming
Forum CPU & Components : CPUs OC'ed Q9300 vs. Q6600 for Gaming
hey.
Q9300 or Q6600(G0) with Asus P5Q PRO mother board... which do i choose?? what could i OC them to?
HELP! thxs!
btw: the MoBo and CPU are going with:
-geforce 8800GTS
-2GB crucial ballistix RAM
-XP prof
-500gb HDD
i think the q6600 would be better out of those two because of the larger cache, but dude for gaming, dual core ftw
e8500 will OC nicely, and work great with modern games
Q9300 has a bigger cache, which will mean better performance at same speed vs q6600.......which ones cheaper?
What should you overclock too? Question is more like, what can i get THIS chip to overclock to and be stable. Search the forums for speeds, etc...
can get both pritty much the same price. £145.
doing a google search for overclockings speed now!
this CPU gotta last me long time so i wanna make sure im ready for the true quad core games that will come out in the next few years. and also i think both of those are ok to run most current games like COD4 and Company of Heros at stock. just maybe not crycis and top res.

That's wrong, q9300 use 6mb(2x3) l2 cache, compared to q6600's 8mb(2x4).
You should use q6600, which use 9x multiplier, compared to q9300's 7.5x. At 1600mhz fsb, q6600 runs at 3.6ghz, q9300 runs at 3.0ghz.
