More Information

Hey guys, i recently built my comp and it works for the most part, after i do some tweaking. The tweaking im talking about has to do, i think, with ram. I got 2x2 sticks of ram and the two that came together had problems. One of the sticks was dead. When i loaded my os, vista 64, i got a bsod before the load screen. I assumed it was ram because the screen appeared for such a short amt of time that i couldnt even read the error code.

With one stick or ram it was working so i sent it in and got a replacement. However, now i got the new stick and the same problem happens. The only way around, which i think is really weird, is if i clear CMOS and restart the comp. Then i dont get an error with anything and it loads perfectly. However, i dont want to keep having to clear CMOS everytime i turn off the computer.

So, as i said in short - the only way to bypass the BSOD is to flash cmos. I noticed also that as long as i dont do a startup and only a restart, i have no problems loading the os.

Anyone have suggestions? My specs are :

MSI P45 Neo3-FR LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000)
CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core

Could i have a wrong type of ram? or something

You could try bumping the ram voltage to 2.1 volts if you haven't already.
