I have just acquired a palm M500 along with a 32mb sd card.

Tried installing tomtom citymaps to the sd card.(My main reason for getting
this PDA) App starts up but then states "no maps installed" which is a
downright insult as I have just spent the best part of 10 minutes carefully
trying to follow their twisted logic in their grouping and naming of
placenames. (Aberdeen is grouped under Inverurie- what's that about then)

App works fine when installed on the handheld but I have limited space on
this device. Can not copy over to the sd card as its protected and locked
against copying.

I have limited knowledge of this device - any help appreciated.

I am partially answering my own question - which seems a bit sad!
I have installed McFile and the tomtom app to the sd card. However if I copy
the map files over to the handheld from the sd card, the Citymap app
recognises the map info and will run ok.It will not run on the sd card as it
does not recognise that any maps are installed.

Do the maps install to a special directory, or the default directory when a
hot sync is made?

A partial fix would be to install maps to the sd under separate directories
and transfer over to the handheld when required - delete when not required
on the handheld to preserve working space.

However, would really like to know if anyone out there has a better fix.
(Maybe just one file required to be copied over to the handheld?)
