The really interesting part is who they defected to, and it isn't ATI. Paperwork has been signed though, and it is a done deal.

It would be interesting if they defected to Intel - that would ultimately spell doom for any hope AMD has of beating Intel in a platform war.

I was kind of hoping that they would go to ATI, as I'm really quite partial to EVGA.

heh :P

Anyways, i'm exactly with cjl - EVGA's credibility is really unmatched; they have the best support, warranties, and end-user benefit programs. I'd be quite inclined to admit that i'm very big on EVGA as a company, and if they switched to Intel platforms and gpus - i'd likely be attracted to Intel's next platform simply based on their endorsement.

I also like EVGA, was very pleased with their support and product. It would be nice if they were going to do ATI cards too, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Well, I guess it's Intel or S3 or Matrix, probably Intel. . .

Its the Inquirer.

Has to be Intel if true.

I dont like it at all. I used to love EVGA, but this is traitorous, quitting nVidia is one thing, going to Intel? Better to go with the devil you know.....

I guess, but Intel still offers a better platform than AMD. Of course, the jury is still out on Larabee so we'll just have to see.

I do remember some stories being published during Computex about how many of the graphics card manufacturing partners were upset with the low margins they were given and would defect to Intel in a second if the opportunity arose.

However, I highly doubt this is a wholesale defection, but rather XFX and EVGA deciding not to be Nvidia exclusive partners, much like Gainward did recently. It wouldn't make much sense to sign on as an Intel exclusive right now when Larrabee isn't supposed to go on the market until sometime next year.

It's interesting that Intel is already attracting some manufacturing partners, but personally I'm still skeptical about Intel's ability to produce a graphics solution that isn't rivaled by an Etch-A-Sketch for capability.

Well, this is rife for fanboy stuff, and flaming. Im very diappointed, and only hope the best for nVidia at this point.

You should hope better for AMD, cause they need all the help they can get too.

Read their quarterly report?
