Hey,

im brand new to the forum and to be honest, im a total newb when it comes to computers. Ive been looking to get a new system for the last 3 months now and was aiming to buy a prebuilt system from fry's or dell or gateway.
i was advised by a Fry's employee to built a custom one which would cost around the same and would be a better system. I tried out cyberpowerpc.com and tbh....i was clueless. A friend helped me out. Just to fill everyone in i will mainly use to the computer to play WoW and music. Ill prob try a few different games but mainly WoW. my budget was about $1100 and i ended up spending 1280 which isn't bad. Can you gaming PC gurus just go through what i have and tell me if its a decent set up.

also, if you guys have any other suggestions. If not this system, my other option is going to be this:

any other suggestions under 1300 would be great

thanks

The first system is not comming up. The second one is pretty decent although I would change the GPU to a HD4850/4870 because both of those outdo the 9800GTX from nVidia.

The second system is nice. But as I said see if you can get a ATI Radeon HD4850/4870 instead for the best gaming.

More Information

I wouldn't buy from gateway; too many quality issues with them.

If your buying over the internet, i'd go with either:
Cyberpower
ibuypower
DigitalStorm

You'd be surprised how much $700 can get you these days...

More Information

Ok thanks for the Cyberpower info. I suggest you change the GPU you have for a HD4850. The HD4850 will beat the 9800GTX.

And with that info, go for the CyberPower. Its a better build than the Gateway.

ok, the gatwea i can get for 1200 and the cbpowerpc for 1280. the cyberpowerpc is def a better system from what i understand.

also, cybberpowerpc give me options of running upto 3 graphic cards and i chose to run 1 good one. What are the benefits of running two and will 1 card be suffiicient?

More Information

1 card will be fine. Usually SLI or CF are only useful at uber high res like 1920x1200+. If you game at 1680x1050 you are fine.

I still suggest a HD4850 over the 9800GTX. It will be the better choice.

yeah +1 for the 4850 it a great performer for what you pay. especailly considering the 9xxx are going out (already), im also not happy that nvidia dont support dx10.1

More Information

ok in my opinion, i'd drop the quad core system and opt for the E8500, then i would ditch the 9800 and get a 4870, that is going to be optimal, and Cyberpower is a great company, it may take a little longer than you think for your rig to arrive, but it will arrive without a single mark on it, not even a fingerprint! mine was flush!

Forgot to add, the E8500 will do better than any Quad processor in most games and it's cheaper, i say this becuz most games dont even utilize quad cores...

yea i would go with a 45nm chip to make sure i wqas up to scratch either like e8400 or the q9300, i know that if you look at straigh bench mark in game the quad dont look to favourable against the dues, but once got some music going and a download in the back ground then your rolling. also game of tomorrow are going to have smp support.
