My mobo is a DFI Lanparty n64 Ultra-D. I bought a soundcard (Asus Xonar 7.1), RAM (OCZ Platinum 2GB, 2x1gb) and a harddrive (Seagate Barracuda 250GB).
I put them in one by one, in case there are problems. First, I replace my Corsair XMS 1GB 2x512mb (DIMM 2 and 4). It boots up fine, It says I have 2 gigs. Then, I pop in the soundcard, I try and boot up, but no luck. It comes up with a screen saying my system32/config/system file is corrupt or damaged. I power down and go to sleep. I wake up to try and fix it. I take out the soundcard and put my old Corsair back in, but when I try to boot up, my mobo makes a loud beep, there's an orange diagnostic LED lit up and I can't get any video or anything. So, I reset the battery on the mobo by taking it out for a bit. I pop it back in, and now I have video, I'm unable to fix the system file, but I'm no longer worried about that. I put in my new Seagate HD, I put XP on it, install all my drivers and windows updates etc....continued in reply
So, I figure the problem is my mobo, and it was caused from putting in the soundcard. I power down and pop my OCZ ram in. I can't boot again, no video, red diagnostic LED, continuous beeping. I power down, put my Corsair back in, reset the mobo battery again. But this time it doesn't fix anything.
Sorry for making this longer than it needed, I just didn't want any confusion. Also, sorry for my grammar. I'm on a PS3.
