So, I found out the hard way that the M2N32 SLI doesnt really like my new processor, it died pretty bad, and after workbench testing every part of my pc at least 3 times each, the mobo was definitively the problem. So, emailed asus for some rma help and 2 days later still no reply. Seems like phoning is the only option, but before i take a mad dive into a phone call to asus...

Anyone know how good the phone service is? In the last few months calling ppl like verizon and sony have proven to be checklist know nothings who cant help at all and just waste 3 hours of your life. Ive had good experiences with ocz and ati tho. So, are asus ppl good about their warranty?

In general, no consumer motherboard makers have "good" customer service -- they're all in a cutthroat business with tiny margins. You'll just have to pray and try it out yourself.

PS - don't be surprised if your email generates a reply after a week or two. 2 days is way too short a time to expect a reply.

I have a spare cpu on the way as of today, I should know by wednesday or thursday as to the motherboards condition. What do I do if the motherboard is indeed bad, also keep in mind that I cannot seem to utilize the RMA web form from my server.

Thank you for you excellent service !

CPU:
5400 64 x2

MEMORY:
1 x 2gb mushkin ddr2 800 1.8 volt

OS:

VGA:
ECS 8800gts 512

You should have no problems with RMAing the motherboard through us.

Be aware that we don't expect you to go out and buy another CPU. The steps provided are just possible causes and suggestions. We understand that most end users will not have access to many spare components.

But if you do have a spare CPU we do suggest trying it.

I have done everything except replace the cpu, if I do that and it turn out to be the motherboard, will ECS exchange it ?

I have honestly performed ALL these steps before I wrote you.

Thank you.

System boot failures may be caused by a variety of different factors. Below are a number of issues that may cause system boot failures, and suggestions that may help resolve them. Some of them may seem simple but may have been overlooked.

Whenever handling computer components please ensure that you are properly grounded. Static electricity can damage or shorten their lifespan.

You should start by testing outside of the case. This is to eliminate any grounding issues between motherboard and case. Setting the motherboard on top of the box it came with is a good way to do this. All you need to start out with is the CPU, CPU fan, memory and power supply. You can start the system by touching power pins (6 & 8) with a screwdriver or the tip of a pen.

%uF06C Make sure the clear CMOS jumper is set as "normal". Or move to "clear%u201D to reset the CMOS settings then move back to "normal".

%uF06C Make sure you are connecting the CPU cooling fan into CPUFAN connector not PWRFAN, if you connect wrong, your system may shut down immediately or 4 sec delay after you hit power on button.

%uF06C Make sure the power cables inside the computer are attached correctly and secure. BOTH the ATX1 (20 pin or 24 pin) and ATX12V (4 pin) connectors.

%uF06C Make sure the power supply has the capacity to power all the devices used in your system. Inadequate power to your components can cause the entire system to lock up at worst, or just cause certain components to malfunction or stop working. A power supply does not have to be dead to be faulty

%uF06C Make sure power supply voltage selector 110V is correct. And make sure power supply rear switch is ON (Some power supplies have rear 0/1 switch) and AC outlet is ON.

%uF06C Ensure that the CPU is good. Try a known good CPU is possible. You can also try the CPU in question in another system. Also ensure that the CPU heatsink is secure and has thermal compound between it and the CPU.

%uF06C Some monitors may not pick up a signal immediately, please try and turn OFF/ON your monitor again if you have an amber light only.

%uF06C Use one memory at a time if you have more then one or try using different brand or type of memory and reseat (reinstall) again into Memory slot 1. Ensure your memory is non-ECC and unbuffered.

%uF06C Try a different video card. A known good one if possible.

If after this you get your motherboard to POST go ahead and install other components (such as hard drive, optical drives, pci cards, etc%u2026) one by one and verify that the system can POST.

If all is good after this go ahead and reinstall into your case. Make sure you connect the correct wiring from case into PANEL 1 of the motherboard.

Subject: support form not working 780GM-A no post, no AMI beep code

I can't get support form to work

system
780GM-A MB serial # k61100F81000470
bios 8/05/20
reseller: Newegg 4/15/2008
kingwin 450 atx ver 2,2 power supply 16a 12v1 17a 12v2
5400+ X2
1 x 2gb mushkin ddr2 800 1.8 volt
ECS 8800gts 512
wd 640 aaks
kw 7131 pci tuner card
vista 64
Cooler master 532 with 2 120 mm fans on molex (not mb)

Installed wd 640, missed bios screen, pushed reset so I could get into bios to configure sata. System never posted again and no beep code(s). Unplugged computer, ps off and cleared cmos, retried still no beep code or post or vga signal from card or onboard video, also when board posts, my fan on the 8800gts would slow down to 36 percent, since not posting all fans and vga fan 100 percent, so no initializing of board.

Several users of this board report same problem on newegg after 30-60 days use, I was wondering about possible design issue. Does not seen to be isolated incident. Would like RMA exception please.

"Now if the 4870x2 was actually notably faster than the 280 for about the same price, then I might even take a chance on it. However, that won't be the case."

Heres hoping for good luck like that haha. 3rd day today, hopefully reply by monday.

Its a similar issue, mobo just died, no burns, no contact, no boot past 3 seconds of doom, so I hope its RMA... newegg no longer has it in stock, I wonder what happens if they no longer manufacture it.

rc - nice to see a company responding well -- thanks for posting the exchange!
