I'm able to copy files across into the MS easily enough, and all the
MP3's play fine just they are listed alphabetically and not in albums.
I tried creating Albums in the ms/pal/msaudio directory and placing
them in each but the MP3 files are not seen by the audio player this
way....

SO how do you copy MP3 from the pc to the ms and keep them in albums
structure and listed in track order not alphabetically???

Congratulations on owning the best PDA on the planet.

To keep an album structure for MP3s, try this: http://www.aibohack.com/clie/albumswap.htm
It's free and works well. You need to set up the .M3U files for each album,
probably easiest done using a text editor on the PC and then copying them
to memory stick, but once done then this should solve your problem.
