8800 GTS 512 should max it out at 1920*1200 - no idea what power supply your HP uses, but I think 400watt with good amperage on 12v is the minimum for 8800 GTS 512

8800 GTS 512 should fit in even a cramped HP case too i'd say

I'd get a second opinion though from someone more familiar with HPs

More Information

depends on the resolution the ram onboard - if your playing 1900x1200 you want an 8800GTX or the newer 9800GTX has less ram

the new 200 has 1 gb

the high the resolution the higher the ram needed

my customers play wow at 1900x1200 with the 8800gtx

Aye well the case currently only has a crappy 250 w power supply but ill be upgrading it (also looking for suggestions on PSU) but how would the 3870 fare?, or the 9600 GT? and currently i am not looking to run at 1900x1200 as i dont have a BBM( big beautiful monitor) yet but i do have plans to get one so i might as well plan ahead for it

Seriously? world of warcraft? I could play wow on my p4 with an x800xl and at 1600x1200 max. Those cards are way overkill unless you plan on buying a new system soon. If your only concerned about wow

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814133186
then that should do the trick.

Get a really nice power supply with the money you save. they tend to last much longer.

I don't agree with that video card suggestion if you want to be playing with MSAA enabled

MMORPG's are notorious for getting graphically bogged down when there are many players on screen which is not uncommon. I think the 7900 GS would not give a universally acceptable experience at all times.

MSAA doesn't help wow. perhaps if he was talking about Age of conan. at high enough resolutions even AA is barely noticable. In fact I would even suggest the ati 2600. He doesn't have a large screen and all prior suggestions will prolly cook themselves in a stock case.

I would get this ati 2600. It's larger cooling solution will dump air outside of your poorly ventilated case.

And for anyone doubting the power of the card here is an interesting watch.

Lol I max WoW at 1280x1024 on an AMD 3500+ and an X800pro. 1gb of RAM as well. Its not exactly a demanding game...

thats right, WOW isn't very demanding, i say go for a 8800GT or 8800GTS 512

I think the card you were looking at is a very good choice, not only for WOW, but other mmorpgs.Tough to beat $109.99 AR for a 9600GT. A good choice for power supply would be http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817139003
plenty of power for what you have and no problem fitting into your HP case.

In large towns such as iron forge or ogrimmar during peak hours your connection to the server will most likely be the cause of any "stuttering" you may see. Back when there we're town raids the servers crashed before my x800xl could unleash it's full potential lol.

I have a X850XT, a X2 4800+ and 3GB Ram. I played wow max settings always above 35 FPS. With a crapload of addons.
WoW is very well coded and overall a very light game. The only stuttering there is usually server lag. Get a 2600 or a 7900, put one or two more Gigabytes of ram, and that is it !!

Even in "Old" Alterac Valley during the turteling sessions it would fly. Same in 40 man raiding. Yeah i'm old school. I was i mean.

One thing the HD2600 which i meant to link is this one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814161098

It's low enough power that it may save you the cost of a power supply. While i belive it's recomended is 300 watts those estamates are usually overly safe so as long as you only have 1 HDD then it should be fine.
