Thread : 3-Way SLi support for x58 Tylersburg

I am planning to wait until the end of Q4 for Bloomfield, but my only concern will be whether or not NVidia will release a chipset that allows for three-way SLi, otherwise I may as well simply spend my fortunes on an x48 mobo with an OC'd Penryn and 3 GeForce GTX 280's than an x58 and Nehalem that can only manage CrossFire or regular SLi. |

Okay, so I should go for x58 over 790i then? But the question is will four sandwiched Radeons scale as well as three-way SLi Geforces for games like Crysis? |

well a 4870 X2 is supposed to be viewed as a single chip... so in theory the driver will see the 2 cores as 1... and then when you add a second... it will see 2 cores... even though there are really 4... so scaling shouldn't really be an issue |

The x58 will have voltage problems with the CPU you buy. Wait for nvidia's 499XX board with IXU (Integrated Xtreme Ultra). The GTX290 Ultra will really take advantage of the quantum processing. |

From what ive read its highly possible that some motherboard mfg's will put an NVIDIA chip (much like whats on skulltrail) on the x58 boards to enable SLI (dont know if this support Tri SLI though) As intel and NVIDIA are comming to some kind of agreement "apparently" --------------- "This thread made me strap on my lolerskates and head for my roflcopter." |
