Thread : Monitor won't shut off!
|
|
More Information
|
Recently, I've upgraded my CPU, Mobo, RAM, and Graphics on my computer. After the upgrade, my monitor won't shut off in either Vista or XP. Even when I turn the computer off, the monitor doesn't shut off. The monitor just displays the "no signal" message. Could I have a bad graphics card? I updated my drivers to the newest ones but it didn't solve it. I am using the same monitor prior to upgrading and I had no problems until after the upgrade.

Then won't it be the monitors problem? Something wrong with the turn on/off button? |

Have you thought about pressing the power button? And I don't think it's a problem on the computer side. |

Connect the monitor to the computer's power surge. That way when you turn off the power surge everything is off. --------------- Scruze my English! |

Did you accidently change any of the auto power-off settings in the monitors menu? On my Samsung, you have the option to set how long the monitor stays on before powering down. If it is displaying "no-signal", the problem is with the monitor somewhere. |

Check your mobo's power settings. Some allow you to change your monitor's sleep state. Change the DPMS state to anything but "normal".

I tested another monitor on my computer and the same thing happens. So I can count out the monitor for being at fault. Now it's down to either a setting in my BIOS, or a bad graphics card. Anyone want to chime in some ideas? I'm going to flash my BIOS to the latest version to see if it clears it up. --------------- E7200 @ 3.16Ghz (333x9.5)| Scythe Mine | Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L | G.Skill 4GB PC28000 | EVGA 9600GT | Audigy2 ZS | WinFast TV | 2xSeagate 80GB | WD 250GB | Lite-On DVD | Samsung 18x DVD-RW | Thermaltake TP 700W PSU | Antec P182GM | Klipsch PMU 5.1 | 28" HD |

I have the same monitor, same issue. I have two of these monitors and the menu buttons are on the side, which makes it a pain to manually power down with the monitors side by side.

For those still having this issue, I've fixed it somehow. i think all I did was unplug all the connections on my power brick, unplugged the power brick and reattached it later - I'm assuming that's what it took because I recently moved and when everything was plugged up I never saw that problem again.
