Only pair i have ever owned is the logitech z5300e. Theyre really cheap for what you get... which is a lot of bass (enough to make your neighbors angry). Besides a lack of optical input, im pretty happy with them.

Choosing speakers for your PC is a difficult choice as most PC speakers are utter rubbish. I use two sets of Klipsch PC speakers, 5.1 and 2.1, and as good as they are they pale in comparison to standard studio PAs. Any Logitech offering sounds ultimately worse than Klipsch, and that is reflected in the price of the Logitech speaker line-up. The Klipsch Ultras are upwards of $300 and are 5.1 with a honking sub, but yet sound thin when directly compared to just 2 KRK Rokit 5's ($99 each).

Where does that leave you? Either ignore your ears, but honor your budget and get a pair of Logitech 5.1s and settle for their mediocre sound or take advantage of your sound cards outputs and get away from "PC speakers". Send your audio output to an amp or other device and then pick and choose from the wide range and infinitely better regular audio speakers. But expect to have to get cables and components assembled, not just a one box solution. Though those do exist.

If you are in a position to build your audio sub-system right...stay away from "PC speaker solutions" and instead think as your PC as just another audio input.

Simple answer - if you care about getting decent quality sound, these are garbage.

Never under estimate peoples capacity for stupidity, and you won't be disappointed.

Spot on. Depends on how much you care about sound. Maybe you just want to enhance gameplay. I know the Z-5500D's are crisp.Good luck. I just have some Altec lansing FX4021's with the Isobaric sub. Not bad.

if you want quality then go with klipsch 2.1...they can be found on ebay for less than 100$
if you want a lot of RMS, BASS, try finding Logitech z-5300 which usually reatil for a little above 100$
i personally bought logitech z-5500 from craigslist for about 110$ (the guy was leaving the state and selling his stuff)
look around and shop, also make sure you have a decent sound card..maybe audigy

also remember most of the pc speakers sound extremely bad, because most pc speakers aren't full range, and lack serious detail , compared to home theater systems, i have a 2000$ home theater set up with pioneer 1018 reciever , klipsch KLF 20 floor speakers (200RMS each)and klipsch rw-12d subwoofer. it blows away any pc speaker but then again the cost is a lot for running a system like that. if you have a decent home heater setup you can use it with your pc via coaxial cable.

stay away from this 100%...the system response is horrible, the RMS is even worse considering it says that the input is 3500 watts....that's a literal joke and there is no way the SPL ( sound pressure level ) can hit 150 db, 150 db can cause loss of earing in ~ 2hrs, even at 120 - 130 db loss of hearning becomes permanent. The manufacture is over exaggerating the specs.

Do you have a stereo set at home? If you do, just connect it to you PC. This is what I did and it is definitely better than any set of PC speakers.

I prefer the Gigaworks S750 7.1 surround sound system, provides a lot of punch, and clean audio, and also is great for watching Blueray films. If you got $400 to spend on these speakers, you will not be disappointed. These speakers are also rated as THX certified.
