Yes that would be a great gaming computer. The e8400 would also be a nice option. I love my 6600. |

You cannot get a gaming computer for less than $1000 at Dell. Under $1k and the best video card is a 2400Pro.

I don't know much about that particular board, but the CPU should overclock decently. Also, consider waiting a couple of weeks, ATI's new cards are supposed to be coming out, which might drive prices on the Nvidia cards down a little. Also, just letting you know, AMD does not make bad chips, I've got one myself, but they say that intel is faster and that you can overclock decently on some of their lower end chips. So might consider that too. Also, I recommend a good set of headphones. Makes it very nice. Personally I like the ones that cover your entire ear, blocks out lots of external sounds, even the cheap pair of coby branded ones I got for 10 bucks are great. Good bass too, pleasant suprise. Just remember, you wont be able to use all 4 gigs of ram if you dont have a 64 bit OS, like vista ultimate. Unless Ive been living under a rock and there is magically some way to use all 4 gigs with a 32 bit system... if so, ENLIGHTEN ME! : ) Also, troll forums for cheaper components that can be overclocked, just dont try to go overboard with it, as it is your first system and all. |
