Just brought a HD3850 only to realize the box says requires a 450w PSU, Is that 100% accurate minimum or could i get away with using my Trust 370W Low Noise PSU?

This may help, it shows actual power consumption of various cards http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/forums [...] c=7&t=9354

AGP version, if that makes a diffrence

More Information

More important than total watts, is the 12v rating. You could easily run an HD3850 on an earthwatts 380W PSU because it's combined 12v is 27 amps. Look on the label and see what the combined +12 volt rails max is in amps or watts.

down the list on the chart on the back of the box it reads

+12V
15A
180W

Ouch, 15 amp 12v isn't going to cut it given a mild loaded system. How many drivers you have? What the CPU? I feel pretty safe to say You will need a new PSU.

Here is the 27 amp 12v Antec I mentioned for $30. It's quiet and a quality PSU made by Seasonic.
