Hi All

Ive had a grounding/EMI problem with my motherboard, and Asus has provided me with a solution to successfully diagnose the issue. Now that I know what the problem is, they have told me how to solve it.

The instruction that they have provided me with was as follows:

"all we need to do when mounting the board back into the case is use some added grounding/emi protection, the simplest way to resolve this type of problem is to get you some standard electrical tape and make a cross over the brass or metal stand-offs you are mounting the board into."

I am just having a little trouble visualizing this. Are they referring the raised threaded inlets inside the chassis where the M/B screws in to? If I cross those up with electrical tape, how am I supposed to screw the board in?

Any suggestions or advice is much appreciate!

Thanks in advance :)

You could puncture it. (poke it with a knife.) You should double check to make sure you don't have an extra one installed. If you have an extra standoff, it will ground the motherboard, and prevent it from working.

They probably mean the ones you won't be screwing into (that is if yours are welded to the board)

Or that you should make a cross and then make a hole in the tape (take one of your screws and screw it in without the board)

It is a very newb question, which is why I ask it.
More Information

Take small nail and make a hole in the very center of the tape where the screw will go and the threads are.

Thank you very much for the replies.

Im going to make a small hole in the tape and see if im able to do it without purchasing plastic stand-offs.

Ill post results.

Cheers!
