Great news. It's about time.
I just hope that Pande has enough WUs to go around.

I think its limited to just the gpu or cpu at this time. But the more they come out with the gpu usability, the less the cpu is needed

I heard there are different versions of cancer, not just where the cancer is, thats why there is progress in some areas..

Having had Nvidia GPU's most of my computing life I can wait to add to the great work being done by folding at home..

I only hope this will stop future deaths of a horrible disease which has killed so many..

Once we have this program in place I bid all Nvidia GPU owners to join hands and work on the solution which we all hope will be provided by folding at home....

I.E. All of the forum teams regardless of card etc do something for us all, you never know it could be you next..

Not to rain on your parade or to discount cancer deaths, but heart attack is the number one killer.

Probably not as sexy. ;)

Fantastic news! Hopefully it'll be released sooner rather than later. the AMD/ATI F@H (for 38xx) has been in beta forever!

Actually its the other way around.. But since the cell in the PS3 is in a ways risc, it doesnt quite do the same thing as a quad, but the quad cant touch what the cell does. The gpus are of course parallel and are even faster, but more limited in what they can do, so far

Hmm? I thought it was like this :

GPU (This means ATI/NVidia) : Fastest actually, but not very flexible. This means in reality it does very limited series of test, although does it pretty fast.

CPU : The most flexible, and easy to use, but it's the slowest.

Cell (PS3) : The middleground, slightly less flexible than the processor but definitely faster than the CPU.

But anyway, I'd expect that client to be available at least the year end, and will be out of beta in 2009. Sadly, F@H's client development time isn't really the fastest out there......

Thats like saying we should never upgrade, then we can have influence on the chip makers, so they wouldnt use so much resources to better their product. Or never take that new miracle pill, because it came at a high cost to the enviroment. It always starts out crude, ineffective, but then it gets refined down the line. I find it troubling here, on a tech forum that tech would be viewed as useless, or worse, harmfull. This if anything, is going to help people, maybe even someone someday that will have the energy/enviroment solution. Course if that person died because we never tried to better ourselves....
