Would you mind giving the details of the BSOD? Any "missing" files, infinite loops, processes crapping out etc? Also do you have an X-Fi sound card by any chance?

All the solutions I found on google involved that hotfix you mentioned. Some guy had the wrong one (32 bit instead of 64 bit) and that was causing his problem, so make sure you got the right one ---------------

OK - 4 sticks of RAM is definitely more stressful on your Mobo - Settings for both the memory and board are developed with 2. So you may (obviously, in this case) need to play with it.

When I put in 4 x 2GB sticks in my 680i A.Striker Extreme I did need that patch, KB929777. On the X48 A.Rampage Formula the patch was not needed. Interesting.
