 Thread : GA-EP35-DS3L Internal Speaker?

More Information

First, I'm sorry for the extreme noobishness of the question. I've searched and scoured the internet and can't find any kind of definitive answer so I'm hoping you folks will help me.

I bought components to build my first computer and I started putting the whole thing together. I got to the point where I started plugging the led lights into the motherboard and noticed that there was no internal speaker plug.

Is the internal speaker generally built into the case or is it supposed to be built into the Motherboard?

If I don't have one how detrimental would it be to continue working on the project? Is it conceivable that parts will be destroyed if I continue working and turn it on at the end? I know the beeps are supposed to tell me if something is wrong and what exactly the problem is supposed to be.

Thank you for your help.

You can run a system without the speaker. I use one for testing a build and then unplug it if it's not installed inside the case.

So then the next question is, if I don't have any spare unit to test with and I go ahead with putting the PC together on the assumption that everything is fine am I running the risk of all my parts being damaged?

You tell me what I do.

no you wont damage anything by just putting them in together.the internal speaker is useless and annoying so just forget about it.

I wouldn't call it useless at all, it tells you what's wrong with your system..

On my DS3L (the non-ep version) there are pins for the speaker, they are just separate from the LED and power pins etc.

The manual shows it in the same place as the P35 DS3L

The beeper is very annoying yes. It's not harder with a gigabyte board. It reboots itself after a failed attempt and reverts to stable settings. If there's no POST screen it can get hard, so I have an out-of-the-box old PC Speaker lying around in a drawer in case of emergency. ;)

I replaced the speaker with lights, so instead of beep codes I get blink codes! :D. ( I have been doing this for a while actually.)

Any special LED light or just something you picked out of an older case?
I've been thinking about doing somethig like this but then I'd have to have my case open all the time and that's likely not a good idea with all the cat hair flying around. :)
EMI is not good for your health. But good if you want to glow in the dark.

Just some regular LEDs from Radioshack. Just make sure you have + to + and - to - when attaching the LED.

I might try with an old PLED. It has seperated pins so it would be easy to mount. Thanks for the tip. :)
