i just overclocked my evga 8800gts 320 and i'm running at 662/1552/1066 for core/shader/memory.. Memory bandwidth reached 85.3 GB. Pixel fill rate is at 13.2 GPixels/S Texture Fillrate is 31.8 GTexel/S.. I'm not getting it this is just too much of overclock. whats with this. anybody else got the same thing..

I can't OC my 640 that much, but some cards will OC much better than others. If you can OC to that level and play some games or 3 loops of 3DMark06 without locking up then I'd say it's a solid OC. If you get lock ups then you need to back things down a bit. Don't forget to keep an eye on your temps.

Good job and good luck.

Are your load temps OK? i.e <80oC. You may want to jack the fan speed up to 100% when gaming just to keep it relatively cool. Thats a great Ram overclock! I never tried to push my old 8800 GTS 320 MB, was happy with what I bumped it to.

What are you using to read your clocks? The 8800GTS will sometimes say its clocked higher then it really is. I know mine would not actually clock beyond 635, but some of the overclocking utilities would just keep going up.

i'm using GPUz 0.1.9 to check clock speeds but i'm using Ntunes to overclocked it... MY temp is 70C i played unreal tournament 3 after overlocking and Farcry and crysis...no lock ups... but if i over overclock core to 670 then it locks up and same goes for memory if i overclock it to 1068 i start getting red spots or kind of broken graphics in games...i have a 90MM PCI slot fan right underneath it..that blows lot of hot air for it... the temp should be like 80C or above but after this much overlclock but it;s not...well maybe coz i have like 4 fans for case cooling...what do you guys say?

So you didn't mess with the fan speeds at all?

Thats pretty amazing that it doesn't get above 70C at that overclock, mine used to hit 76-77C and I had to have the fan at 100%. G80 can handle the 80s, but I think 70's are the safe range.

If you don't trust the GPU temp diode, turn those case fans off and see what happens after a bit of gaming. I am not sure how much UT3 taxes the GPU compared to a newer game, could mean a couple of degres!

The best way to OC is to get your card good and HOT to start with and then OC it. That way you'll know the temp limits and it's stability at higher temps. Anyway mine only gets around 83 MAX during load on auto at 635, 1470, 1000. Mid 70's on 100% OC'd to the limit.

Why would you complain about the overclock? I sure as hell would like my E6750 to be beyond 3.4 without setting VCore to like 1.5 or something. Thats a sick memory bandwidth though. 8800GTS 320 are the deal of the decade, get two and sli their asses. less than 300$ performance better than any single card. 9600GTs in SLI also scale pretty well.

Kreia- Does it matter? Of course it does; such titles allow us to rip the galaxy into two halves: light and dark, good and bad. Perhaps I am neither, and I hold both as what they really are: pieces to a puzzle.

Actually your texture fillrate is 15.888

Your card is a G80 with 24 tmu. Not like the G9x series.

i got those reading from GPUZ. the 8800gtS 320 at stock speeds has texture fillrate of 24.0 Gpixel/S

you can check this web site out.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Nvidia_Graphics_Processing_Units

MIne had 27.6 Gpixels of fillrate coz i bought superclocked model...

If i'm wrong then can you please explain how you 15.888?

not complaining...i'm just bit amazed...thats all i had this card for more then a year now...So i overclocked it... and i was kind of not expecting this much overclocking...

Your G80 does 4 texture per clock for every 16 SP cluster.

4*6=24*662=15888

4 texture per clock * 6 (96SP) SP clusters = 24 TMU * 662 clock speed = 15888

nope didn;t mess with it...but it did reach 72C...so now i'm going unplug the case fans and see what temp i get..i'll let you guys now..thanks

I just did. This GPU-Z is a program that doesn't recognize video chips. The programmer has to input information into it. Obviously someone didn't do their math right or thought G80 is same as G92 has same tmu.

If you have 3dmark professional you can use the multi texturing fillrate test. It will not be anywhere near what GPUz quoted.
