Is there any software that can tell how much power consumtion is used.?I mean i got 500 watt psu.And i got asus 9800gtx,xtreme fatalty and 2 hard drives and 2 roms.So i was wondering is my psu good enough.Can any software shows how much power consumtion is used

Don't know of any standalone software but my APC backup power supply has monitoring software that tells my exact power useage in watts and also gives the incoming voltage. If your asking about software you can load on your computer and obtain REAL Time Power consumption - I dought it very much.

Software can display your voltages, BUT there is no current sensors located on the MB, and or peripheral (ie GPU card, HDD's, optical drives ect). without knowing the current, power can not be calculated - P= IE, or P= I Sq R, or P = e Sq / R.

To bad PSU's (not awhere of any) do not incorporate a current output. They normally only include a current limiting circuit.

They do sell a Watt meter that plugs in to your AC outlet and then plug your computer into. This WILL NOT break down the 5 Volt vs 12 V power. You must also factor in PSU loss. For Ex if watt metter indicates 500 Watts then you have to multiply that by the effiency. 500 W times 80 eff. = 400 watts that the computer is using ( the other 100 Watts is consumed by the PSU

Alternative (what I do ) I took a AC computer power cord, cout the Hot lead, put two bannana plug that I can plug my DVM into and measure current My cost Zero. and other than PF very accurate.

And it converts into heat, which really pisses Al Gore off.

No one mentioned that the quality of the PSU has a lot to do with whether it will handle the load without frying your computer.

If you want to see how much power your PC is consuming, including when it is off, you need to buy a Kill-A-Watt.
