Hi,

I was about to order this mobo, but going through some of the threads have made me change my mind. A considerable amount of people are experiencing issues with the Gigabyte ga-p35-ds3r. Anyways, i have a couple of questions about the board.

1. Can i plug in a PNY 8800GT? The gold heatsink is very close to the pci-e slot. Seems like it will block the vga card. take a look here

Has anyone had any issues with motherboard layout?

2. Will i need to update the bios? The mobo seems to be in the supporting list of the 45nm cpu's, but there are still confusion after reading some post related to this board. I want this to run this without any issue with my E8200 as i dont have a 65nm cpu to flash the bios.

Finally... is this mobo really good. My other option is the Asus P5K...

Please please reply urgently as i need to make a decision in about 12 hours

Thanks in advance :)

I have it with the 8800GT. Works great. Overclocks like a dream. Not one thing ever got in the way on the mobo.

The only reason you see threads with problems is that its a very very popular board. It doesnt have anymore problems than any other good P35 board, you just hear about the few minor ones more often as so many people have it. Most of those people with problems are idiots that just dont know enough, and usually nothing wrong with the board.

Its a great board, I love it. You won't be disappointed.

if you dont use S3 sleep, you should be fine. the sleep function as far as i'm concerned, is completely broken if you have a wolfdale (45nm) cpu. same goes for the DES software that they are really pushing

Hey Shafrox,
I have also orderd the same motherboard with an E8400 (tho) and I also have my doubts about the second question, whether it will run an E8400 out-of-the-box or not. Just like you I don't have an older 775 Proc to do a biosflash if it would be needed...

I have already done some research tho and found that the revisions v2.0 and v2.1 will support it, without having to do a bios-update.
(I'll do a search for the link, I'll post it as soon as I have found it)

Has anyone already tried this combination out-of-the-box? and dit it work?what about v1.0, did that work out-of-the-box?
