More Information

Morning,
I've had my system for some time but only recently has it started to freeze itself. The freezes are random and i now have a "Secuirty Issue" in "My Docs" folder. Any ideas as to why my PC would be freaking out?

I would either check the RAM or the motherboard. You may need to flash BIOS or to possibly check for errors on the disk itself, although I doubt the latter greatly.

Stupid Question
More Information

Few more questions for ya:

1. Vista or XP?
2. 32 or 64 bit?
3. Power supply model and age?
4. Overclocked or factory?
a. If overclocked, what cooling solution?
5. Last time you performed any disk maintenance?
6. Can you provide a hijack this log?
7. Do you run anti-virus?
8. Do you frequently download from "shady" sources?
9. Do you have the latest bios?
10. Have you run Memtestx86?

Answer ALLLLL that, and I can help! :)

More Information

1. XP
2. 64Bit
3. Thermaltake i believe, it's been awhile. About a year old
4. Non Overclocked
5. Disk maintenance as in?
6. Not sure what a hijack is
7. Avast trial
8. Stopped downloading from "shady" sources
9. Bios might be out of date, i'll update that today.
10. Have not run memtest, will do now.

More Information

My desktop was freezing on me every few hours. I pulled out all my PCI cards (wireless, firewire, SATA controller) and all hard drives but my OS drive and the freezing stopped. Try disconnecting all unnecessary parts and seeing if you still get the freezes.

Also, go to RUN in your Start Menu, then type MSCONFIG and hit OK. this utility will show you everything that starts up on your computer, in case you have some spyware/viruses by chance. google anything you aren't sure about before making any changes there.

5. Defrag, scan disk (at a dos prompt type chkdsk /f and it will scan at next reboot)
6. go to google and type "Hijack this" download the app and run it, saving a log, copy that log into here.

And it may be necessary to do what the_taker mentioned...eliminating possibly defective hardware.

:)

5. I run Defrag/Scandisk every other week, whenever i'm bored so thats up to date.
6. Attached is HIJack, i recognize most of the programs currently running
7. Updated Bios to current, Ran AntiVirus and found nothing, deleted files i couldn't scan.
8. I think this is a software problem. One of my issues is "This file may contain a security risk". I ran this through google and came up with Internet explorer extra secuirty yadi yadi program i d/l from windows update. Was suppose to help...oh well. In order to shut this program off i have to get to my admin server, how do i get there to peek around?
**EDIT** forgot to mention, my PC freezes when i play with Mo or let it sit idle. While using IE i'm ok..but i don't like IE.
