More Information

Here are spec's of my rig,
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3,0ghz 333 FSB
Abit IP35 PRO "Off limits" Motherboard.
2 gig ram 2x 1024mb Corsair XMS2 @ DDR 2 835mhz (Dual Channel)
EVGA Nvidia 8800 GTS 512 mb 670mhz GPU core and 972mhz Memory (1944 effective) STOCK
2 x Plextor DVD/RW/RAM drives.
1x WD Raptor 10.000 RPM 150gb (Games and Windows)
1x Samsung Spinpoint T166 500gb Storage
Thermaltake Armor Series Black.

I've got this !@$#@$#@ Issue which is being a horrible pain in the a$$. Whenever I am on my computer my system stutters nearly every minute (not constantly sometimes 2 times in a minute) My old system had this aswell. Everything is brand spankin' new.

I transfered my old stuff to my new computer. Such as, Music and documents.
I have AVG installed and scanned my system 10 times no virusses. Both HD's
I scanned for spyware. No spyware found (except tracking cookies which shouldn't be a big deal)
I do have a big music library which is 2600 songs big and other stuff like some Rar files and Zip files containing software.

I tried watching Task manager but I can't find anything that causes these stutters...
Please help me, this problem drives me mad. I hit my old PC cause of it. But now it's the same again.

PS: Is it normal in Quake 4 @ Ultra Quality 1280x1024 8x AA to have 20-30-60 fps :??: Whenever I play on big fields it suddendly drops from 60 to 30 ... really fast. but it stays on 30.. whatever I do (this can't be normal) with the stutters it goes to 22 and turns back up again.

what is your OS and how many processes do you have running in the background?

If you know how to post a hijack this log, that would be awesome.

Is the problem application specific or does it happen with all types of programs?

If you old system did the same thing:
1. Are the symptoms exactly the same?
2. Did you transfer any parts from the old to the new
3. What is the condition of the electrical power to the computer?
Were they both plugged into the same socket?
Try another socket?
What else is on the same socket and same household circuit?

try the system with no overclocking. Absolutely no overclocking... once more.. no overclocking. Then make sure that your voltages are at default. It could be an OC issue. I would want to eliminate that first.

G:\Setup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSIEXEC.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\MsiExec.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\MsiExec.exe

Disable all of these startups:

Same thing after reboot.... :(

Stupid Question
More Information

hmm ok, so similar to what others have asked, when do you notice this issue occuring, does the frequency of the glitch increase or decrease in certain conditions?

Example: Only happens in games and gets worse as a I play
or
Happens in windows on the desktop when Im not doing anything, and stays very consistant.

and listen to your hard drive if you can, if the hard drive make a loud(er) snap or clicking sound during the glitch, or if the hard drive seems to be thinking a lot.

Lastly, sort processes by memory usage, and see if any are abnormally high. Sometimes corrupt files can cause memory leaks.

EDIT:
Oh yea, what, if any hardware did you transfer from the old PC?
And dont hit this one anymore. ;)

1. What PSU are you using?
2. What voltage is your Q6600 and at? What are it's temps?
3. What are your Ram and northbridge voltage? Northbridge temp?
4. Was this a fresh install of the OS on a new hard drive?
5. Do you have all the latest drivers and bios update?
6. Have you run memtest86+ or the latest Prime95 for satbility testing? If not, then do.

I have had streaking issues with OC'ed CPU's when the voltage is too high or too low. I am wondering about power. I would look at PSU to make sure it can handle everything you are running. the Q6600 does draw a lot.
