OK guys it is time to build in a month or so. I am looking to only spend $1500 to $1700 on my gaming PC. Are my selections ok or should I get different components. My plan is to overclock everything next year. U guys suggested this motherboard before. Is it still viable? My concern is only 1 video card slot.

Also will the ram I selected be ok when I decide to OC and will it even work with the motherboard? I could not find it on the ram list for MB.

I made your URL's links so that there would be a better chance of people looking at what parts you are getting. That way they don't have to copy the address and paste it into their browser.

You are welcome!

Gigabyte approved ram list. http://www.gigabyte-usa.com/FileLi [...] 3r_2.0.pdf

For budget go with Geil or OCZ. For higher end go Crucial Ballistix or Corsair XMS.

Everything else looks fine.

I know what I know, and I don't know what I don't know.

Thinking of getting vista 64-bit. Any other suggestions for build?

More Information

Also on the approved list there are no 2g memory. I would like to have 2g memory so I can maximize the 8g in the future. Or will 4 1g memory be plenty? Will I ever notice the difference between 4g and 8g?

one more thing why the suggested e6750 rather than the q6600?

Do not eat the styrofoam
More Information

Because you said "gaming PC". The Q6600 is better than the E6750 in Flight Simulator X, but the E6750 is better in the other games. Quads are best for other things, like video or programming or servers.

OK. That's parts.

When you DO build, I suggest installing installing CPU, HSF, and memory before you put the mothreboard into the case. It's easier to verify the HSF is installed properly. And since memory sometimes a fair amount of force to install, that's easier with the motherboard on a flat surface, instead of on the case standoffs.

For that matter, breadboard the complete system to test the parts before you install them in the case.
