Hello , i have a budget of a 1000$ and i was wondering what is the best parts to get. i want this to be built around Intel Q6600 and Antec P182 case , also i already have a monitor.

Get an Antec Sonata III case instead. It's a brilliant case with plenty of space and comes with a brilliant PSU that's more than capable of SLI/Crossfire of HD3870s/8800GTs.

For graphics look at one of the aforementioned cards. Motherboards i'd look at a Gigabyte P35 DS3. For memory any established name (Corsair, OCZ etc) will be fine,

im getting antec p182 because i like the way it looks and its a very quiet case so im sticking with that. im also getting the gigabyte ds3. would Gskill ram be ok?

i was looking at Rosewill 600watt. its only 60 bucks. the thing is , i dont know if the wires are long enough to be wired through the back of the mobo in the antec p182. it has special slots for wiremanagement. and also the corsair has neat features like just removing the wires that u dont need but its cost alot for a psu imo.

Getting a crappy PSU is like putting a time bomb in there. Go with no lower than a Tier 2 PSU:

Well let's see with the $900 christmas bonus I got, I bought a Q6600 with a Asus P5N32-E SLI mother board from microcenter which was a combo special for $498 for the 2 together and a OEM copy of vista Ultimate 32 bit. Already had pc6400 memory just swapped over my video card and away I went.

I love my Corsair PSU ... great quality ... and the 550 will be the same.

im having trouble what ram to pick , im not sure if im going to oc , maybe in the future i will oc but im going to leave it for now. im not sure what ram to pick. G.Skill PC6400 DDR2 800 is only $43 at new egg right now. should i go for it?

As far as ram, I go with Crucial Ballistix, you always get Micron chips

Micron chips are the type of chip the RAM uses.....

Microns are very good at OCing, hence the 1200 clocks people are getting with Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800

Other companies have turned to other cheaper chips
