Hello, I was thinking of replacing my 1900xt crossfire with just one ATI 2900xt 1GB, but would i lose any performance at all? and would a Thermaltake Tough power 750w be strong enough to run two 2900xt in crossfire mode? bearing in mind there the 1GB cards, Thanks Message edited by kidney-shot on 12-04-2007 at 07:36:18 PM |

1. Two X1900 XT's in crossfire are probably close in performance to a single 2900 XT in many games, possibly even better in some. Don't think that's an upgrade that's worth it.

Just buy two 3850's and run in crossfire. Better value in my opinion. Pretty sure a 750W can handle two 2900's just fine. *edit* Also, what are your system specs so we can get a better idea of whether or not you'll see any performance increase from your cards. (Mainly - what is your CPU?) Message edited by rgeist554 on 12-04-2007 at 07:49:08 PM |

What resolution do you play? I'm assuming your rig is all about gaming... so what kind of games do you play?

Wouldn't bother upgrading to two 3850's in crossfire if 1280x1024 is the target resolution, and if his target resolution is high enough to utilize the power of those cards, the CPU will matter hardly at all because the graphics cards will be the bottleneck. --------------- Core2 E6750 @3.68 Ghz (on Asus P5K) Wintec DDR2-800 2 GB Geforce 8800 GTX and Radeon 2900 XT Samsung 245BW 24" LCD |

That's why I was trying to figure out what he was playing at, so I could see whether he'd utilize SLI / Crossfire at all. |
