Hey, just thought I would ask, if you are using some pc 6400 RAM that is 4-4-4-12 or better rated and can be over clocked past 950 Mhzs with out problems, please list the brand! Ideally, I am looking for 2 x 2 gig stix (so 4 sticks, 8 gigs!)

Its pay more for 1066 stuff and under clock it, or pay less for 800 mhz and over clock it, as long as its ram meant for OCing!

Lupi, do you really need the 4-4-4-12?
I was UNDER the impression that if you were clocking high (950 and above) you'll see no difference dropping to 5-5-5-18.
The reason I bring this up, is you may end up paying for no noticeable performance gain.

hehe, paying? I have GSkill 1066 5-5-5-15 1066 right now, and I was looking to see if I can get some 800Mhz kit that can OC to 950.

I think when you clock high with a mem divider you dont see the gains! Then again, I would guess that in sync at 950 with the FSB is great! And the higher in sync you can get the better, right?

Isnt the FSB the memory's pathway everywhere else? So as long as your speeds are in sync with the FSB, you should see gains when you do anything that speeds it up! Right? I mean, I can see you not gaining anything when running a higher divider, because the info passes along the FSB at the FSB's speed anyways, yes?

But.. I would save money. The OCZ, Corsair, Balistix, crucial and such are just 100 bucks each for a 2 x 2 kit @ 4-4-4-12. Mine were over 200 each kit because they are 1066. So I would save 150-200 bucks if I could find some OCers RAM @ 800 Mhz.

Anyone have some ram they would like to plug? I mean, I am just runnin' a FSB of 1900! Some 800 Mhz ram should be able to clock that high at their 4-4-4-12 settings, right??

But would you notice a difference between DDR2-950 4-4-4-12 and DDR2-950 5-5-5-18?

What matters is what's important to you. While you would NOT see any notable difference, some times you can smooth things out.

Hey, ya never know, that little increase that you cant see, but your computer can? Maybe thats the last 1 mhz that tips your game over the edge! Ya never know, and up till then, the faster the better! Until you get some sort of small explosion from your computer room!

Stupid Fed Ex Told me on the phone that my maximus formula would be delivered today! Arse holes. Looks like I have to wait until tomorrow because they didnt pay for 4 day service, they payed for 5 day! So although the package got to its local hub in my city at 6:30 AM last morn, they didnt put it out for delivery on a truck because it was 5 day saver!

They wouldnt just place it on a truck. Hows that for sad? I have to wait till tomorrow! Man, and you'd think they would wanna deliver it as soon as possible, just so they dont have to do it tomorrow, if its just sitting there.

Okay, so far I have came across the Balistix series by crucial in the configuration I want.

Supposedly they OC very well, and have the D9s.

This guy is still testing, but he did do a bit of checking, and they OC very well, even the new egg reviews say it can OC to 1066 but at 5-5-5-15, not its rated 4-4-4-12, But that second link tests it at 1000 @ 4-4-4-12 and didnt mention any problems.

Anyone else out there have these and OC'd em? And as the upper messages point out, they are 100 bucks cheaper than the current 1066 @ 5-5-5-15 that I have, hehe. (2 kits, 200 bucks I would save.) And it runs at the same speed as the ones I have, hehe. And since I keep those in sync at 950, why not just get OCers 800?

So if you have experience with this type/brand, please let me know!!

Thats the 1 gig version of the same stuff. Wow, I guess it is one of the better ones, now that I am finding information about them. Wonder if the still use the same chips on em?
