I bought a new 120Gig hard drive for me laptop. I formatted the drive reducing the size to 55 Gigs.

You have to create a new partition in the remaining space and format that. |

There is no remaining space. It is like the new 120 gig drive is only 55 gigs. The rest of the drive is just gone.

If Windows XP Disk Management fails, maybe you can try the GParted Live CD:

You don't mention HDD MFG or OS. However, it doesn't matter much, whatever OS you are using do a complete format, not just a 'quick' format. Also most HDD MFG's will have tools on their website that may help in these tasks. |
