[H]i, your best bet assuming you dont keep 90% of files in my documents is to make a smaller C drive - say 10% or 50gb (50,000mb) and install windows to that. Then once at windows make a logical partition for the rest of the drive and use that for games / pics / mp3s / movies etc.

ooh...and where do i partition my hard drive? using vista? or go through the bios....

Hi again, you would make the fist main partition during the install process and you can choose the size to make it etc.....

oh and yes on my docs etc - thats what I meant by backing up documents and settings folder which my docs is under, but Im sure you can see its far easier to keep my docs cloned to D as a backup and save all big files for games / movies etc etc on D under folders for Games , Graphics, Sound etc.

There is with xp by using a powertoy called TWEAK UI, but as I say not being a vista user I honestly cant say if you can do that but Id bet you can.....best bet is to ask a vistaholic or try a quick google search for "moving my docs to different hdd".

it's pretty easy I believe, it works exactly as it does in XP, (or at least I think it does). I recently changed back to XP from Vista my self...
