I thank you for all you guys for putting in your input. My Computer is more than up to the task. Even cyberlink advisor gave me green lights all across the board. Any ways in conclusion to this issue I had sent cyberlink a log file from their advisor and this is what they told me:

The problem is more of the software even in my case. The patch that they sent is the one that enable the software to play all of my Blue Ray. The patch that cyberlink sent me is different from the automatic download from the company website.

Well I couldn't wait for a patch from Cyberlink, so I resorted to something I hate doing. I reinstalled Vista and had some promising results, I got 2 movies I previously couldn't get to play work. Hopefully it was just something wrong with windows. My installation my previous installation was only 2 months old. But now I have one minor issue left, sometimes I have interlacing issues. I notice if their is a hand waving or a face moving side to side, those parts look messed up. (its like the horizontal lines of that hand or face are not lined up properly.) Is an 8600GT, E4500, 4gb ram not sufficient for good play. This problem is only once in a while, but when your sitting 3 feet you notice these things. |

Your HW should be more than enough to play Blue Ray. My CPU utilization is in between 12% to 19%. For most part its not doing anythng when i'm watching movies. The 8600GT is fitted with PUREVIDEO hardware accelerator. It should be sufficient.

On the back of the box of my 8600gt it states that the 8600 series is about 13X better than on board video for gaming Excellent for photos, web, office apps, dvd play back and bluray HD-DVD playback. On the other hand, the 8800 series is the same except for 27X better for gaming than onboard, but good for Bluray and HD-DVD playback. You would think that an 8800 series card would be better in all aspects. |

I think I finally figured it out why a fresh install of Vista allowed my bluray player to work with cyberlink's Power DVD bluray edition. It was service pack 1. I had installed SP1 1 week before I purchased the bluray player. I guess on April 14 when I did a fresh install of windows I guess I had gotten all the updates for Vista except for SP1. But today when I was prompted to install SP1 I did and I am back to square 1 where only about half of my blu rays will play. There must be something in SP1 that has to do with copyright protection that will not let me play discs I paid money for. So how important is SP1 b/c I think I will have to do another fresh install of Vista if I want to play all of my blurays. I guess I should have bought a ps3 instead. |

It should not. I have SP1 loaded on my system (Vista 64 Ultimate) i don't have an issue with Blue_Ray and HD.
