My friend wants to buy a laptop and he's wondering which processor will be better:

Core 2 Duo t5250 or Turtion x2 tl-56

They're both around the same price so that's not an issue. Only issue here is actual performance. Which is faster? Better all around?

Also, does it make a difference between the 6 cell and 12 cell battery? 6 cell and high capacity 6 cell?

And, does is there a difference in speed between the 802.11b/g WLAN and Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection? the pro/wireless costs $15 more so I'm wondering if it has an impact on the internet speed.

Intel wireless should be more reliable. ANd the Core2Duo is faster and better alll around

The Turion would probably outperform the Core 2 since that Core 2 is so weak, but im not sure about the power consumption, the core 2 might be less power hungry.
12 cell will provide alot of juice, not sure about high capacaity.
Unless your transfering alot of data inside the WLAN network, thers basically no diference between those two wireless's speeds, but the 3945 might have mroe range

@Adam, thats a broad generalization, these low end laptop proccesors theres not much of a difference, and its compounded by the fact that intel proccesors cant be overclocked really well in laptops since theyre both usually (Bios) locked and have almost no heat removal

actually I can tell you from experience. I have had the same AMD processor, tl-56 in a notebook and now my moms notebook has an intel core duo or w/e t5xxx and it blows the AMD away

Lets play the oh this chip is better game. OK I got a couple of things that we need to look at in addition to what the CPU is. If I take a laptop and throw the x3100 GPU in it with the t5250 with 1 gig of ram it will perform differently than if I put the same chip in a computer with 3 gigs of ram and the same GPU. Change the GPU to a Nvidia 8400 and there is another change. So bottom line is when we are doing comparisons or answering questions please try and list facts. Operating system is another kicker, there are still XP laptops available. Vista computers need 2 gigs of ram to get anything beyond slowdown fest out of it, whereas my processor on my computer doesn't allow me to utilize 2 gigs of ram the way I should. AKA The processor is slow enough that the slow down in games and stuff is processor caused not ram caused.
Another side note there is the Cost comparison to take into account as well as a myriad of other things. BTW the 5250 has a lower FSB than the TL-56 but a twice the Cache. As for speed the TL-5250's actual speed is .3 GHZ slower than the TL-56. For power savings the TL-5250 is the better bet. But than again what do I know, I don't have a Degree yet so I cant take all these facts and share them with you for you to make an educated decision, but oh well.

Also on the WIFI, the router has as much to do with it as the card does. I say save the money. But thats just me.
