I got e2180 and asus p5k mb, and for cooling putted igloo 5060pwm. Got 1 GB DDR2-800 5-5-5-18 (a-data) (no ddr2 near by at the moment so i just borrowed this ;) )
Overclocked it on 2.66 with no problems and all i hear is my hdd running :) (i just changed from 200 to 266MHz and left all else to auto)
Want to overclock it on 3.0 or more ... so can someone say should i put more voltage or to leave it on auto (i see it change depending on the loading on the cpu)

Tried to clock it on 3.0 but seems i have to play with voltages and a lot of other parameters that i don't understand, because it refused going with auto settings on those parameters i said i don't understand.

Anyone? :)

damn, it just dont like that. tried reducing fsb and again and agian but its not booting at all like that.
maybe to try another pice of ram? or it should not be the problem?

Burn this as image on CD/DVD:

Reboot, enter bios, load defaults, save & exit. Let memtest run for 5+ passes. If there's any error, your memory may be faulty. It has to be replaced.

 

If no errors, overclock it again starting at 333 FSB. Set DRAM Timing Control to AUTO. Do SuperPi 2mb. Once you reach a stable o/c you want to keep, do memtest+ & other programs for 8+ hours for stability.

Done evrything,
it wont overclock at any other speed but 2666MHz

maybe thats my luck?
or mayeb i should try with some better powersupply? Current is 420W, maybe i need stronger than this?

the problem is your mobo, at 266 bus speed, that brings your fsb up to 1066, thats the highest your mobo can do(as far as i know, a mobo with 45nm support (1333 fsb) would be better for overclocking. thats just my two-sense, the only experience i've had was with amd cpus, witch use hypertransport (much faster).

edit- after some research, it seems your mobo CAN to 1333, im fresh out of ideas.

That makes absolutely no sense....especially "amd cpus, witch use hypertransport (much faster)."- lol

 

The P5K is rated at 1333 and Overclocking generally means pushing the mobo past spec.
Edit: saw ur edit^^

 

Edit 2: I got to say its the E2180 themselves. I have one and based on others they are limited in OCing compared to the E2160. Its fine but at 3.0+ it starts to get VERY power hungry and eats vCore like nothing. Play around with some stuff....raise vCore. Leave NB alone

 

If u want drop the multi. and raise FSB to rule out cpu. That will test mobo and ram

the limit of the E2180 is about 3Ghz and 3.2Ghz being the max on P35.any above prove to be very hard to do.

on my 650i i can only push as far as 3Ghz with 375x8,any more will just fail in prime.just to let you know E2xxx is the worse yield Core 2 chip thats why they get speed bin to be the lowest series in the Core 2 family.

^+1 for limit. Yes indeed you will be limited to max of ~3.2Ghz with out increasing voltages above 1.5v. You need 1.54v to hit 3.3Ghz stable 6hrs on Prime95.
