Yes, at least one 802.11b chipset is supported under linux. I think it's one of the Lucent chipsets. There maybe more, but there is at least one. Have you tried Google? Google is your friend. Also, you might want to check out <A HREF="http://lwn.net/2001/0920/dists.php3" target="_new">lwn.net's distro section</A>. It's a big list of different distros and there is also a short listing of 'wireless distros', whatever that means.
