Hello Geeks

Am Priyam Malhotra a new member out here from India.I need a bit help buying a laptop for the 3d animation course am doing.

I want to buy the laptop from U.S. I'll be using it for serious animation.

Dell Inspiron XPS M1710 particularly intrests me.

What i want is something which will suffice me for 3 years. The course is for 3 years. It should have a C2D processor ~2.00ghz 4mb l2 cache. 4gb ram will do. Nvidia 256mb or more gfx. Wifi and bluetooth will be needed.

I'll need global onsite warranty. I prefer dell but am not biased towards any other company till then i get good service and warranty and value for money.

My budget is ~$2000

Thanks & Regards
Priyam Malhotra

The ASUS seem to make a good lappy (once you remove all the really bad built in software packages), only problem that i have with some of them is that the case is made from a PVC like material, makes it feel cheap. However the G1 or the G2 do seem to meet you requirments.

blake

ps, when i said the case felt cheap i was refering to my F3JP.

Wierd enough i was bored and looking around at barebone laptops from asus and when i went to a few of their sell sites they carried the barebones but did all the upgrades themselves. The prices werent bad. just go to asus.com and look under where to buy then under barebone laptops.
