Easiest and most universal - infrared between PPCs.
Better - Bluetooth exchange
Best - Wireless 802.11 and use of any number of IP clients

It might help if you explained what you were wanting to do...

there's surprisingly little out there since ppc's are "client only" devices.

Most people start with Microsoft Portrait (google for it) using an adhoc
wifi connection which allows ppc to ppc communications but there are a
couple of other apps around as well.

Note... the adhoc connection issues can be frustrating in themselves...
repost at microsoft.public.pocketpc.wireless if you run into problems
getting a working adhoc connection going.

....note... you can also use ir for two devices close to each other as
well as using a serial connection to transfer files etc.

vxHPC from http://Cam.com also allows telnet/terminal sessions via an
ethernet connection but have never tried to use it between two ppcs
connected via adhoc.

Hi Beverly both Microsoft Portrait and GPhone allow one to directly enter an
IP address of another device to call it, allowing walkie talkie like
commutations, along with text and file transfer. See my post below for

Sorry, I think you make a misunderstanding. I mean that how to program a PPC
app which can let the PPC communicate with another one. you'd better provide

I would suggest looking into writing an IP socket based application, which
really can be adapted for any number of requirements limited only by the
imgaination and willingness to commit (at least I have had a good time of
it, and due to this would not suggest anyone getting a PPC that did not have
wifi). Are you familiar with the PPC development tools? If not, maybe a
post to microsoft.public.pocketpc.developer will give you a leg up on the
