You can't run backtrack using magicdisc. Magicdisc doesn't allow booting from an ISO, it will just let you view the files inside it. You can use VMware or VirtualBox to load the ISO into a virtual machine instead, which will allow you to do what you want (most likely). The other option is to get the ISO to work off a USB flash drive so that you can boot from it.

You should also look at getting Backtrack 4.

If you are not familiar with linux then why are you trying backtrack? It is not exactly a noob friendly distro and is meant for professionals, hobbyists and enthusiasts.

(BT4 is past beta, its FINAL) Yes they have a special VMware image, or you can download the regular version as well.

hi everyone,i am running backtrack 4 on my netbook (via a oracle virtualbox) but when i try to use the firefox browser and i try to connect to google or another website then it says "address not found" and firefox can't find the server at www.google.com.(HE CAN'T EVEN FIND TOMSHARDWARE)and i tried everything but it still won't work.does anybody knows how this is possible?is it because it is running on a virtual machine?however,i can contact the pre configured backtrack website(the original webpage when i open firefox on my virtual backtrack) with succes.thanks for helping folks!

:| Read the wiki. You have to start networking.
Backtrack is a distrobution for professionals and hobbyists. You absolutely must know your way around linux.

If you don't know what your doing stick to noob friendly distro's like ubuntu.

Hi, RTFM.
Why use it in a virtualbox? Just stick it on a USB drive and boot from it.
Also backtrack has its own forum you will receive better help there.
