More Information

I am building a new video editing computer. I was set on XP 64 bit, but someone just told me if I am going with 64 bit then go with Vista. I have tried to stay away from Vista because of its compatibility issues and stick with XP because of my good luck with it. Please let me know.

Check and maker sure there are drivers for all your hardware before going with any 64 bit os.

If you're going to go 64-bit, then yes, Vista is the way to go. Just ensure whatever software and hardware you plan on using will work with Vista and 64-bit before going ahead.

I'm running XP 64-bit here after downgrading from Vista (I love Vista, it just has some surround sound issues with older games due to Microsoft ripping DirectSound out of DX10)

In my case I had no problems getting driver for all of my hardware, and the only single hiccup I had was forgetting to install the drivers that let it boot from a SATA drive... 'NETLDR is missing' ensued and had to reinstall.

If you do go down the XP 64 route, make sure you hit that F6 key ^_^
