It has all the bells and whistles.  Its like a Cadallic with all the options.  More options in my opinon are better.   Of course it is subjective.   I bought an OEM verison for 160 though, I could say it is not worth it full retail price but then again you can always move it over to a newer computer, unlike the oem.   For full retail I would say get Vista basic 64 bit.

Do you use your own media applications (Video, Music, etc)??   Do you *not* like the standard Microsoft offerings, need more than the basic functionality so you replace them?     If so, then I would steer you towards Business - You get the better backup, better encryption, some decent management tools.

Why pay MSFT for stuff you would replace anyhow??

The worst part of my Vista 64 experience is having to listen to all of the individuals who apparently feel it's their 'Grand Mission In Life' to tell me about all of the things that (supposedly) don't work, when it *does* work.

In that case, believe it or not - I would use Business for the improved toolset.    But if you want Home Premium, then feel free.

Why can't you move OEM to another computer? I did for XP all the time. :o

Vista Ultimate has a unique feature that none of the other versions have,it creates extra free space in your wallet. There is no reason to get anything higher than Home Premium.

I agree, Home premium is the bang for the buck.  You get the media center and all the little niceties.  Personally I'm running Vista Business because I could get a better deal on it at the time, 20 bucks through my University.  Though I've played with Vista Ultimate and don't miss the extra features.  Home premium or business should be plenty.

So I'm guessing "Shadow Copy" is not that great of a feature?  I think it's only avail. on business and ultimate, right?
